Rizzo Comes to Clyde Group With Broad Expertise in Financial Services, Digital Assets, and Fintech

January 4, 2023Clyde Group, a leading communications and public affairs agency based in Washington, D.C., is excited to announce John Rizzo as its new Senior Vice President of Public Affairs.

With nearly 15 years of public affairs experience, Rizzo most recently served as the Senior Spokesperson at the U.S. Department of the Treasury where he led public affairs strategy on digital assets, fintech, climate finance, financial stability, domestic finance, and economic policy. Prior to his service at the Treasury Department, Rizzo was a top communications adviser to Sen. Chuck Schumer (New York) and Sen. Bob Casey Jr. (Pennsylvania).

As Clyde Group’s new Senior Vice President of Public Affairs, Rizzo will focus on providing strategic counsel and communications guidance to a broad range of financial services clients, including market participants in traditional finance along with emerging and innovative spaces such as digital assets and fintech.

“2023 will be a critical year for the financial services industry as Congress and government actors move to put in place regulatory frameworks that will impact emerging technologies, like digital assets, and traditional market participants,” said Rizzo. “I look forward to the opportunity to work with these companies and help them navigate this time of both innovation and disruption. Rizzo has spent over a decade in Congress working for Sens. Schumer and Casey. He launched Sen. Schumer’s digital media strategy in 2010 and guided Sen. Casey through successful reelections in 2012 and 2018, serving as a Senior Advisor to his campaign in the key battleground state of Pennsylvania.

Rizzo is originally from Scranton, Pennsylvania where he began working on political campaigns at the age of 19 and graduated from the University of Scranton before receiving a Master’s degree in Political Management from George Washington University. He resides in the Petworth neighborhood of Washington, D.C. with his spouse, Tiffany Wynn, and his daughter. He is a long-suffering Miami Dolphins fan, a grateful Pittsburgh Penguins supporter, and an ever-hopeful Washington Nationals fan who can’t stop talking about the 2019 season.
