Founder & Managing Partner
Alex Slater
Alex Slater is the founder and CEO of CLYDE, a strategic communications and public affairs consultancy twice recognized as “North America’s Best Agency of the Year.”
CLYDE is an impact agency, working with clients who want to make a difference. He’s not just a CEO; he is a trusted partner for CEOs and executives at major companies, providing them with key guidance and strategic direction.
Slater has been on the founding teams of three major agencies. He was the first hire at the now 2,000-person strategic communications consultancy, FSG, leaving a decade later as managing director. In 2011, Slater was tasked to found the corporate practice at SKDK, growing it to hundreds of team members in three years.
In those roles, he advised clients on some of the past decades' most complex media and communications challenges. Slater has conceived and executed successful corporate campaigns for blue chip brands, including Novo Nordisk, Google, NPR, Ford, American Airlines, and Visa. His experience spans other fields such as financial services, higher education, and technology. He has worked with America's largest banks, pharmaceutical companies, and technology firms to position them during change and challenges.
Slater has deployed bold — sometimes unconventional — strategies to help corporate clients achieve their goals in various industry sectors. He brings a passion for the intersection of corporate and civic work and is on the boards of the Leslie-Lohman Museum, Whitman-Walker Health System, Victory Fund, and Asylum Works. In addition to having his work featured in The New York Times, The Washington Post, The Wall Street Journal, and The Financial Times, Slater previously wrote a regular column for The Guardian and co-authored the "Nonprofit Guide to Going Green." A strong leader and creative force, Slater was named to PR Week's "40 Under 40."
Impact is clear, measurable, strategic change.
